Georgia to Impose Gambling Advertising Restrictions
Georgia has adopted amendments to the Law on Advertising, imposing gambling promotion restrictions, the Business Georgia portal reports.
According to the online publication, such changes were initiated by Irakli Beraya, Rati Ionatamishvili, and Goga Gulordava from the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia Party.
Due to the amendments, Georgia will ban advertising about games of chance, betting pools, and gambling entertainment organizers. The exception are ads posted on gambling or betting web pages.
Gambling operators can place ads only if they sponsor a sports event or an organization.
Gambling external advertising should be placed at a distance of at least 100 meters from general educational or religious institutions. At the same time, the sign should be placed directly on the building organizing gambling activities. The total area of such an ad should not exceed 10 sq. m. Each gambling object is allowed to show a single promotion banner.
The law violators will face a penalty amounting to 10,000-12,000 GEL.
